4 Easy Steps to Youngify Your Face

Growing up, my mom imparted the importance of good skin care. I feel blessed that my mom did not allow me to wear makeup, and was quite strict about this. When she finally allowed it (strategically I sometimes wonder), I was heavily into playing tennis, swimming and running and didn’t want makeup on my face. My mom also took me to a dermatologist to help preemptively control any acne and taught me how to really care for my face. She also chided me against sunbathing and being in the sun excessively. Unfortunately, this is where my teenage and college age wisdom was not honoring my mother’s words. It was also the era of putting oil on one’s body to tan, aka cook, better. It didn’t help that I was playing two-three hours of tennis every afternoon, daily, in the unforgiving Texas sun.

Fast forward to my mid-twenties, I was facing sun damage and wrinkles a forty-year old should be facing. I went to a dermatologist and my wrinkles were enough that he suggested Botox and potentially surgery. Being twenty-four years old, I couldn’t even imagine committing myself to procedural or surgical interventions yet. Finally, I came across some other options via other dermatologists in both Dallas and abroad in Austria. This is a sponsored post, but my personal experience and story told here is 100% real and factual! I never endorse products I don’t agree with or like!

The 4 Easy Steps I Started to “Youngify” My Face:
#1 I started using neck creams.
#2 I started wearing sunscreen. Really good sunscreen.
#3 I started getting microdermabrasions.
#4 I keep my face hydrated.

Several months ago, I was invited to have lunch with two amazing dermatologists from the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics and Revision Skincare.
At first, I wasn’t sure because I have my beloved products and having relatively oily, sensitive skin, I’m very particular about what actually works on my face. Then I realized that I was already familiar with revision. I ran into my bathroom and grabbed my favorite, most successful jar of neck reconditioning, wrinkle reducing cream and guess what? It was

My empty jar, before buying more, of my magical beloved neck cream, Nectifirm.

#1 I started using neck creams: Nectifirm must have ingredients found in The Fountain of Youth in Bimini!!
During the lunch, one lady from revision was talking about their neck cream, and I not only brought my nearly empty jar of nectifirm with me, to show that I was more than a fan, but a walking, breathing, success story, so I held up my jar and started blabbing about how awesome nectifirm was and how it saved my neck.

When I really love something, I own it, I love it! And honestly, revision skincare helped undo my neck and upper chest wrinkles from years of sun damage, from tennis and suncooking, turning back the clock some years.

#2 I started wearing sunscreen. Really good sunscreen.
At my skincare luncheon, I actually sat across from the scientist who has gone all over the world testing and incorporating the finest ingredients such as THD Ascorbate, Japan; White Birch Extract, China; Camellia Sinensis Extract, Spain; Epigallocatechin Gallate, Germany; Squalane, Switzerland and more to create Intellishade. I have a few good sunscreens which I use for my kids such as Blue Lizard, and I do love Revision’s 4-in-1 tinted moisturizer, Intellishade, is not only SPF 45 but fights the signs of aging, fine lines, wrinkles and photodamage with it’s mixture of peptides, antioxidants and botanical extracts from around the world.

#3 I started getting microdermabrasions.
Also sitting across and next to me at this luncheon were two doctors from Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics. Before meeting them, I’ve already spent some time treating my face to microdermabrasions through a dermatologist which have really helped in repairing my skin damage. I was really impressed with the sun prevention Dr. Polder, with the Dallas Dermatology Center, talked about and not only did I try out one of their Clear + Brilliant treatments but I also made an appointment for a mole and freckle follow-up exam given the seriousness of melanoma.

#4 I keep my face hydrated
I’ve mentioned before how oily my skin is so it took me awhile to learn that everyone, even with oily skin, should be hydrating their skin. I’ve been using Revision Skincare Hydrating Serum and I absolutely love it. It’s oil-free, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and alleviates tightness with a smooth ultra-light hydration. My face doesn’t have to produce as much oil when it is being hydrated well.

Now, I’m bad about properly cleaning my face. I often use a soap bar. Since I still don’t wear much makeup, except for the occasionally mascara–see daughters can listen to their mothers–I often forget to wash my face properly. Revision makes an amazing Papaya Enzyme Cleanser that cleanses without stripping the natural moisture content of your skin away. It nourishes skin with vitamins and minerals and my face has thanked me for using this instead of soap.
