Krampus in Dallas, Krampus? Do you know what a Krampus is or rather WHO Krampus is?
The past two years, I have written posts about Krampus:
1) His comeback in Germany and Austria again.
2) Who is that Christmas Devil called The Krampus?
Now it’s become known here in America. Hollywood even released a movie “Krampus.” However, it’s a Hollywood movie and it doesn’t really show the true legend and present day Krampus. I know who Krampus is only because I married a German and was introduced via my German family to this man or rather Christmas Devil. And let me tell you now, forget the bogeyman, Krampus can be scary.
In some towns in Germany and Austria, there is a Krampus Run where people dress up as a Krampus and parade through the town scaring children and some adults. For more infomation: Who is that Christmas Devil called The Krampus?
Krampus Walk,Krampuslauf in Dallas, TX
Yup, Big D has its own Krampus Run and it’s no joke!! It’s seriously scary and cool. I’m even a bit frightened by some of the costumes. In 2014, I had added the Krampus Run to my bucket list. In 2015, I attended the Dallas Krampus Walk, and we will be attending again this year. Yes, we take our three young boys to it, and yes it starts late. The Krampus Walk starts at Wits End in Deep Ellum this Saturday the 3rd.
If you are interested in this event: Krampus Walk 2016, Wits End, Dallas, TX. At 7pm Krampusse will gather at the pub inside at Wits End and between 8:15-8:30pm the walk, Krampuslauf, parade, will begin. The Krampusse will walk/parade East from there. We usually stand outside the meetup pub at Wits End, about three or four stores down on the sidewalk and watch as they parade down the same sidewalk.
There will be Krampusse all over the place, going in and out of pubs in groups and as individuals. Come join the fun! If you want to see if your city is having a Krampus Run,Krampuslauf, check out the Krampus Society for more information.
