Fall Fun in Texas! Opening this Saturday, September 23, 2017, Yesterland Farm: Activities Just Outside Dallas. Want a fun day or evening trip just outside of Dallas? Yesterland Farm is fun fun fun as a day-date or date-night out for a couple but especially for a family! I loved discovering this place just down the road. Only 45 minutes East of Dallas, in Canton, TX, this farm will help you take a few steps back in time and enjoy some old-fashioned Texas farm fun and country fair activities. Even after being hit by the April 2017 East Texas tornados, and sustaining considerable damage, Yesterland Farm has not only made repairs and but has added new attractions.
Be prepared for your kids to get dirty, to do a lot of walking and, of course and most importantly, make great memories.
You can see the pictures of my kids; they are wearing their rain gear as it was a mud pit when we went, following days of heavy rain. I’m glad I was wearing my waterproof hiking shoes as well.
Perfect for ages 2 to adults. Not sure if your two year old would be able to ride the rides??
Towards the end of this post, I give more information, via pictures, to help one determine if their child would be able to ride most of the rides at the age of two.
My husband and I had a blast and we saw teenagers laughing and enjoying themselves as old as 16 yrs of age. They have different areas of entertainment and some are sectioned off for age appropriateness.
The common and reoccurring theme for this “Yesterland” Theme Park is “Old Fashioned.”
From carnival rides to the playground, animal area to food stands, this theme park is packed full of classic country activities such as a restored 1952 miniature train, apple cannons, pony rides, gemstone mining, a small Ferris wheel and two vintage roller coasters.
There are over 30 gazebos spread throughout several acres’ and open fields, ready for running, relaxing or having a covered picnic.
During the colder autumn and winter days, visitors can enjoy fall festival events with pumpkins, scarecrows, themed rides and family-friendly spooky events that take place after the sun goes down.
You have the option to buy the unlimited ride band beforehand but this is still an option even after you enter (more about admissions below). The basic entry pass does not include ride tickets or playing the games. The food is reasonably priced (hot/corn dogs, roasted corn, hamburgers, french fries, old-fashioned root beer, popcorn, sausage on a stick, turkey leg, and more).
You can also bring your own snacks and water to save some money. When I went with my family, we were there for nearly seven hours, so I’m thankful I packed our own water bottles and sunblock. Yes I said seven hours, and we could have stayed longer than that but my husband was growing weary and he was the one driving back to Dallas.
When my boys are a little older, I think it would be great fun to rent a campsite right there on the premises.
Some nights they have fireworks and they have a great corn maze! When we went the torrential rains had closed down the maze but I just love corn mazes and it looked like a good one.
What to Bring and wear:
Wear comfortable clothes you can get dirty
Wear comfortable walking shoes that can get wet and dirty
Bring cash (sometimes their credit card machines are down)
Not very stroller friendly; the terrain is a little weather-beaten but doable.
Winter season: Santa visits and you can cut down and take home a fresh Christmas tree from their Christmas farm. The farm also stays aglow with campfires, where visitors can warm their hands while roasting hot dogs and making s’mores. You have to reserve campfires and bring your own s’more, roasting sticks, utensils, hot dog and other fixins.
Open Saturdays, 10am-10pm with after dark attractions, and Sundays noon-6pm through November 13. During October, it is also open Fridays 6pm-10pm. Children ages 2 and younger receive free Farm Passes. Campfires must be reserved in advance, and amusement-ride passes may be purchased at the gate for $15. For more information, click here.
